Uploading and sharing your work
How do I upload photos to an event?
Two ways. Create the event yourself and upload to it, or open the magic upload link an organizer sent you, which needs no account. Either way you drag your photos in and every visible bib number gets tagged for you.
Do I need a PacePics account?
Not to upload against an invite. That magic link works straight in your browser. You need an account to create an event of your own, and to have a public profile that carries your bio, your socials and a link to your own site.
How does bib tagging work?
Upload your photos and every visible bib number is read for you. Athletes search for their bib and find your shots, with no manual sorting on your end.
Do photographers pay to use PacePics?
Only if you are the one who created the event. Hosting an event is charged once when it publishes, by photo count, and an event under 500 photos costs nothing. If an organizer created the event and invited you, they are billed and you are not. Nothing is taken as commission, and athletes never pay to download.
Can I run an event without the race organizer?
Yes. Set the event up, invite the other photographers shooting it, and publish when you are ready. You hold the same standing an organizer does, including paying the hosting fee for the event you created.
Do I keep copyright on my photos?
Yes. You keep full ownership. Uploading grants a licence, not a transfer: hosting, display, bib detection, and featuring your work in PacePics marketing with your credit on it. Anyone downloading gets a personal, non-commercial licence only, so commercial use is still licensed by you, directly.
Who can download my photos?
Anyone who reaches a published gallery. No paywall, no watermark, no sign-in, so the full-resolution original is there for anyone with the link or the bib number. That is deliberate, and it is what gets your work in front of the whole field. What limits use is the licence, not access. Photos in a draft event are not public yet.
Can multiple photographers cover the same event?
Yes, and we encourage it. Every photographer's gallery appears under the same event, so athletes browse every angle in one place and each photographer is credited on their own photos.
How do I build my reputation on PacePics?
Your profile carries your bio, your links, and every event you have covered, so a photo doing the rounds sends people to a portfolio rather than a dead end.
What happens to photos after an event?
Galleries stay live for 6 months after publishing, or 3 years on paid events, unless the organizer removes the event first. We email before a gallery expires. Athletes keep finding their photos for weeks after race day, so your work keeps reaching people, and you always keep your originals.
